    Introduction

    Minangkabau is a language of Indonesia. It is spoken in Widespread in the Indonesian Archipelago; west central Sumatra Province, Padang area. Nearly half live outside central Sumatra; South Sumatra, west coast Mukomuko area.

    Dialects

    Agam, Aneuk Jamee (Jamee), Batu Sangkar-Pariangan, Kerinci-Minangkabau, Orang Mamak, Pajokumbuh, Pancuang Soal (Muko-Muko), Penghulu, Si Junjung, Singkarak, Tanah, Ulu. Not intelligible with Indonesian (See: Indonesian). Pekal (See: Pekal) may be intelligible with Minangkabau.
