    Introduction

    Batavia Creole is an extinct language formerly spoken in the city of Batavia (now Jakarta) in what is now Indonesia. The last creol speaking died in 1978.

    The Batavia Creole Verb

    The Batavia Creole verb is optionally modified by four tense and aspect markers. The verb may also be left unmarked.

    The imperfective marker sta ~ ste is used for present and past progressive as well as habitual situations.
