Ethnologue distinguishes two Harákmbut languages: Amarakaeri [amr] and Huachipaeri [hug], but mentions under Amarakaeri that "Amarakaeri and Huachipaeri [hug] are considered to be dialects of the same language, Harakbut." Others recognize only one language, or two "emergent languages."
