Introduction
Makian, West is a language of Indonesia. It is spoken in North Maluku Province. South Halmahera island, southwest coast near Gita town; west Makian island, some Kayoa islands. There are seven West Makian speaking villages on Makian Island. Judging by the existing wordlists each village speaks its own variant of the language, characterised by minor lexical differences with other variants. It is not known whether separate dialects of West Makian are spoken in West Makianese settlements outside the island.
